Poll: Voters are split on raising the gas tax The Hill – Feb 20, 2018 Voters are split on whether the federal gas tax should be increased to pay for infrastructure improvements, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday. Forty-six percent of respondents said that raising the tax would is a good idea, while 44 percent said it’s a bad idea. New Funding Of greatest importance is our advocacy: thanks to the efforts of NC Go!, our advocates and partnering organizations more than $700 Million in new, recurring transportation funding was included in the 2015-16 budget. And, thanks to Senate Bill 20, the Motor Fuels Tax formula has been changed and will result in $450 Million in funding
